Join Congressman Hall on September 6 at the Beekman Town Hall, for the “Turn Dutchess Blue” countywide voter registration drive.
Right now Dutchess County has more Republicans than Democrats. This has been the case for as long as any of us can remember, and many of us have gotten used to the idea that we live in a “Republican County.”
We’re going to change that.
According to the Board of Elections, the difference between registered Democrats and Republicans in this county is just over 1,000 in favor of the latter. The John Hall for Congress campaign, in coordination with Barack Obama’s Dutchess County “Vote For Change” volunteers, is sponsoring a huge county wide voter registration drive on September 6. This event will kick off a 5-week effort to close the partisan gap and turn this county blue for this first time in its history!
Not only is this possible, we have a plan in place get it done. Through targeting specific heavily Democratic election districts and likely Democratic households with unregistered adults, we can maximize the number of Democratic registrants while still maintaining the status of a non-partisan registration drive. If we conduct this effort throughout the entire county over a 5-week period, then we only need to net an average of 50 new Democratic voters per town.
We’re calling for 100 volunteers to step up and commit to registering a net of 10 Democratic voters in their own communities. The John Hall for Congress campaign will provide maps and walk lists which will indicate where likely Democratic unregistered citizens live.
The kickoff will be held at the Beekman Town Hall on September 6 at 10:00am. Congressman Hall will be speaking at approximately 11:00. Afterwards, we will distribute walk lists along with registration forms to register voters in your own neighborhood.
